KeyLeaf Develops Their Own Line of Hemp Ingredients

KeyLeaf is Acquired by Canopy Growth

Canopy Growth Corporation, a Canada-based cannabis, hemp, and cannabis device company, presents a valuable alignment in global objectives and a deeper understanding of technical challenges in the hemp space. Combined with KeyLeaf's scientific expertise and operating facilities, the acquisition of KeyLeaf creates a highly productive relationship.

2019

Rebrand of POS Bio-Sciences to KeyLeaf Life Sciences (KeyLeaf for short)

The new corporate name reflects how KeyLeaf is poised to service the growing demand for plant-derived ingredients and high value plant-based extracts.  Shifting focus from applied contract R&D work to producing finished plant-based ingredients under our new name (KEYLEAF) reflects a strategic move toward commercializing a pipeline of plant-derived products under our own brand.

2016

POS Bio-Sciences acquires the Batavia Bio Processing plant in Batavia, Illinois

Given POS’s long-standing relationship with the original Batavia group and the complementary capabilities of the facility, the acquisition is a seamless integration into the company’s core capbilities.

2012

POS Restructures and Fully Privatizes as an R&D, Custom Processing, and Analytical Services Provider.

New corporate structures are formed, and additional capital is raised to expand the core capacities of POS. Additionally, a new CEO is brought on to spark a path to privatization, creating a renewed POS that is positioned to best serve its clients.

1977

Begins Operation as a Publicly-Supported Research Facility to Study Grain and Oilseed Processing, Canola Oil Research and Ingredient Development.

POS Bio-Sciences begins operating and quickly becomes the go-to solution for companies in need of R&D work, commercialization of proteins, oils, and starches.

1973

Incorporates as POS Pilot Plant Corporation.

The concept for the initial POS Pilot Plant is established by a group of thought leaders within Canada’s Federal Government to address the agricultural industry’s need for increased capacity for crop processing. The concept was centered on forming a multi-purpose institute to study grain, and oilseed processing, and ingredient development.
